Ride the Untamed Balkans: 200 KM on Horseback

This one is for riders who never want the trail to end. Šumadija is a demanding six-day point-to-point trek covering approximately 200–250 kilometres, with significant elevation changes, changing terrain and long hours in the saddle. Each morning you leave one place behind and ride towards the next, while your luggage moves ahead separately. The route pushes from the high country around Taor across Maljen and Divčibare, into the vast Serbian steppe and back towards the Dinaric Alps. Some stretches open into 360-degree grassland where houses disappear and the horizon seems to run with you; others turn rugged, climbing through mountain tracks, forests, rivers and steep country. The challenge is part of it, but so is what comes with it: a deeper connection with your horse, a closer relationship with nature and the rare feeling of experiencing a wild place entirely from the saddle.
